On to my review....
I go to Walmart a lot...like every week! We do our major grocery shopping there, everything in one place just makes it easy. I look forward to going really. I like to browse through the cosmetic section (of course). I find that Walmart has the cheapest drugstore makeup. Something what would cost you $10 at CVS can cost you $6 at Walmart. A few months back I saw the new display for Drew Barrymore's cosmetic line - Flower. The packaging is so pretty it caught my attention immediately. I was hesitant to buy anything though, maybe because the prices are a little higher than other items. Finally a few weeks ago, I decided to pick up the Skincognito Stick Foundation. I was looking for something quick to use and I had heard good reviews on Youtube.
Here are my thoughts...
|Shade SF1, lightest shade available.|
Formula: Although this is a stick foundation, meaning it comes in a sold form, I was happy to see how creamy it is. I have very dry skin and have no problem using this foundation. I was impressed that they had a light enough shade to match my skin tone. I normally have a problem finding a shade that fits me nicely. Luckily, SF1 (shade 1) is a very good match.
Application: To apply, (as with any foundation) you bad it all over your face and then blend in. For me, a stick foundation is faster to put on than a liquid foundation. I get it on my face quicker and blend it out faster. I have tried various forms of application, and I prefer to use a flat top brush to buff it in. Since we are in the summer, and my skin is a tad less dry this method works very well, for now at least. I do think that in the winter months the warmth of my finger will allow the product to melt in better... so I plan to opt for that method.
Finish: Walmart.com lists this foundation as a Silky Finish. I would say that is right on! I gives a very natural finish to the skin. I do see however, that my T-Zone becomes more dewy as the day progresses.
Coverage/Staying Power: I really like the coverage this gives. I would say its about medium coverage with one application. But of course you can do two applications and get a very flawless look. Personally for the summer, I try to keep my foundation light. As far as staying power, I am pleasantly surprised considering the hot days we have had - I'm happy to say on my rather dry skin, it lasts all day. If you have oily skin you may want to set with a powder lightly, if you have combination I would powder just the T-Zone...just to be safe. Considering its good coverage, (if you have minor flaws to cover) I would say you can use this as a concealer as well. Just apply a little more in the areas you want more coverage.
Packaging: I like the sleek white packaging. I think its pretty and different. The cap on the foundation stick closes securely and the twist up container "twists" nicely, I don't feel that it will be braking on me any time soon. Since it is sturdy, I think it would be a great product to take with you on a vacation or trip.
Overall, I really like this foundation. I have been using it a lot lately! If you are looking for something quick and easy I would recommend you give this a try. Although it is a little expensive (0.32 oz of product for around $9.00 at Walmart, and walmart.com), I still think it is worth purchasing for the convenience, coverage, and nice formula. :)
Hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)
